GREENPEACE protesters in a rubber dinghy unsuccessfully tried to block the FV Margiris super trawler as it entered Port Lincoln this morning.

The 142m vessel is now docking at the South Australian port.

The Margiris is expected to stay in Port Lincoln for five days.

It will be reflagged and repaired behind a security fence on the main wharf before it heads to Tasmania.

Customs officials will also inspect the ship.

Greenpeace said onlookers were amazed at the size of the vessel as it came into view.

""What the f… is that' was the common cry," a Greenpeace spokesman said.
